February blog: Hey guys hope the off season is going well. I'm working real hard this off season, ive put on about 20 pounds and i'm getting a lot stronger. The off season to me is the most important time of the year. It should be for everyone, its the hard work that you put into your workouts and throwing, that come baseball season and summer time, you will be at the top of your game. I see way to many talented players not working hard in the off season because they think come baseball season they will be all set, thats the worst thing you can do guys. If you want to be the best player YOU can be, and compete at a high level you must work hard behind the scenes. No matter what position you are, you should still be on a throwing program that consists of long toss 3 days a week, for the position players its a lot more than just hitting. You want your arm to be strong, to have to strength to throw it on a line from the outfield, or short stop. For the pitchers its extremely important not to rush into throwing bullpens, its a progression. work flat ground for the first month, then after that slowly build it up on the mound, but nothing more than 15 pitches at first, then take a rest and go another 15 pitch inning. If you get right on the mound and throw 45 pitches, that does nothing but bad things. simulate a game situation the best you can. All coaches have different ways of teaching but you cant always believe one thing, there is not a gospel for baseball thats why everyone is different, so find what works for you and stick to it, and perfect it.
